Tesla unveils new Model 3 long range with 436-mile range

Tesla has introduced a new Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), boasting the longest range ever for a Model 3 at 436 miles per charge. The announcement follows last week’s launch of the longest-range Model Y, marking another step in Tesla’s push for efficiency and affordability in the EV market. The new model not only extends driving range but also comes with a lower price tag compared to its all-wheel-drive counterpart.

Increased Efficiency and Lower Price The latest Model 3 Long Range RWD ditches the all-wheel-drive (AWD) system in favor of a single rear motor, contributing to its extended range. The shift reduces weight and enhances efficiency, giving the new variant 46 miles more range than the AWD version, which is rated at 390 miles.

Despite the increase in range, the new model is more affordable. Priced at $57,100, it offers a $6,350 saving over the AWD Long Range variant, making it a compelling option for budget-conscious EV buyers.

Unmatched Efficiency in Europe Tesla claims the new Model 3 Long Range RWD is the most efficient Tesla ever built, achieving 4.97 miles per kWh. On a smart energy tariff like E.ON Next Drive, which offers 6.7p per kWh charging between midnight and 7 AM, the cost per 100 miles of travel comes down to an astonishing $1.70. According to Tesla, this efficiency allows the car to travel a full kilometer using the same energy needed to heat a frozen meal in a microwave.

Upgrades and Enhanced Features Beyond efficiency, the new Model 3 benefits from the latest design and feature upgrades introduced earlier this year. These include:

  • Refined exterior styling for improved aerodynamics.
  • Higher-quality cabin materials and better sound insulation.
  • Enhanced ride comfort for a smoother driving experience.
  • Nine-speaker audio system for an immersive sound experience.
  • Rear passenger display allowing climate and entertainment control.
  • Heated seats for both front and rear passengers.

Model 3 Lineup and Pricing With the addition of the Long Range RWD model, the Model 3 lineup now includes:

  • Rear-Wheel Drive: 318-mile range, $50,800.
  • Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive: 436-mile range, $57,100.
  • Long Range All-Wheel Drive: 390-mile range, $57,100.
  • Performance All-Wheel Drive: 328-mile range, $76,200, with 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds.

Conclusion The introduction of the Model 3 Long Range RWD marks another milestone in Tesla’s quest for efficiency, affordability, and performance. With an impressive 436-mile range, lower cost, and cutting-edge features, the new model is set to strengthen Tesla’s dominance in the EV market. As electric vehicle technology continues to advance, Tesla remains at the forefront, setting new standards for efficiency and driving range.
